For army composition, you will be able to purchase/raise Army groups. These groups consist of groups of 30,000 men or 15,000 men. One army group costs 400 ducats to raise, or 200 Du for 15,000, and 50 ducats, or 25 Du, to maintain as a standing army.
Relation of training and maintenance.
-----> A well trained army is essential. So for an average trained army, training must equal maintenance of your army. This will result in an averagely trained army. On the other hand, if your training budget is double or triple your maintenance budget, then your army will be much better trained; letting you win more battles with a smaller force.

Each nation will have two spies they may place. PM me on the forum where you want yours, and what you want them doing in that nation.

Diplomacy that requires roleplay will take place in a separate forum, these things include alliances and other such things. All such agreements must be ratified in a final form so I as the DM know the terms and can include them into the roleplay.


As a note on trade, every formal trade agreement you possess with another nation will be beneficial to growth. However, this can leave you vulnerable in times of war if an enemy enacts a blockade. Thus trade routes are a double edged sword, as they can help your nation grow however they can also harm your nation and cause unrest if an enemy cuts off that trade route.

Also, happiness will be watched in this game by me. Your nation will grow unhappier if you raise taxes, and grow happier if your raise them. The happiness is also effected by other things, such as religion, a good economy, or things like nationalism; when it arises. Unrest can result in insurrection, protests, and even the overthrowing of your current form of Government. So don't just raise taxes willy nilly.

History:

The year was 550, a group of people formed together to create a very primitive tribe. Over the course of 200 years the tribe grew in leaps and bounds, then began to favor the ways of trade and science which surged with productivity. Once the year 776 came around, a conflict arose between the Synari and the Saturos where a minor portion of each race had a giant falling out. Each race had small riots demanding to not do trade with the other and soon it had to come to a stop. The elders met and decided that even though there were some foolish in each race that could not look past their skin and see that they were all in this together that there must be a separation. The Synari volunteered to travel west and set up a new colony, but still stay in trade with one another since the elders respected one another deeply. Over the course of 984 years with constant trade (though inefficient) stayed between the two nations helping each other grow and simultaneously weeding out a large portion of the racist population by making communication between the two races a normal occurrence. Now each nation handles each other with great respect and are a shining example to the lesser nations around on how to treat one another with dignity and respect.

Name of nation- Thyrem
Government- Corporatist Republic (Leaders of different branches of society are elected by the people of said branch).

Every aspect of the nation is split into a branch of the government. The government consists of branches such as military, religion, commercial, etc. The government has a written constitution which grants its citizens certain rights such as right of law, right of life, etc. However it also limits the participation of certain classes in the government, for example farmers would not be able to elect military leaders, they would only be able to elect farmers. The representatives of these branches of government all meet in a Senate building located in the capitol of Syrocuis to discuss and argue government points. These branches are ultimately controlled by a series of committees that have the power of the purse.
 
State Creed: "Gestarum Gloriam Nostram" ("The glory of our achievements")
Dominant Religion- Consecutism

The religion is state-funded and controlled, and promotes active and productive members of society. The entire religion is based around the accomplishment of individuals. The more a citizen achieves to improve the lives of him or herself or it's nation, lead to a better afterlife. The less someone achieves, or achievements that worsen the society, lead to a worse afterlife. This religion is taught in public schools as basic curriculum.

Average Race- Synari (Elven in appearance, but predominantly pale complexion with white hair).

The empires of Thyrem and Ploutos Ziton were once one in the same over 1000 years ago. Thyrem eventually broke away from Ploutos Ziton due to racial incompatibility. Initially relations were strained, but after time, negotiation, and opening of trade between the two empires, relations improved. Today both nations share similar interests and cultures; however, there are still large gaps. Currently both nations are friendly toward one another; however a small group of Synari nationalists known as the 'Purists' believe that Ploutos Ziton exiled what would be eventually known as the nation of Thyrem, and actively denounce the nation and there are reports of violent crimes this group has committed. The current government denounces this organization and promotes friendly relations with Ploutos Ziton.

Most of the Synari majority live together peacefully with the populations of other races; however, there are groups of all races that actively reject one another (The written constitution protects all higher intelligence races).

While the nation has a fairly wide variety of agricultural products, the nation does not produce enough to serve as viable exports. Slaves are only used in industry production.

Economy Summary: Dashamon lies in the mountains of the north, where they use their slave forces to strip mine the mountainside. Hench they chiefly export stone, metal, and precious metals. They are able to support their economy because all proceeds are sent to the Chosen One who then allocates funds to the necessary Advisers of each church section.

Cultural Summary: The culture of Dashamon is ruled by their religion. Their religion governs everything about their nation. The actions, recreation, work, and schooling are directed by the Chosen One. This leads to national happiness being an arbitrary gauge of the nation, as everyone is happy because the Chosen One knows the path to Enlightenment and will guide them to it. The people of Dashamon also pursue the propagation of their religion to all those in the world. They will not stop until the whole world is following the path to Enlightenemt.

History
The tribes of Talios were united in 800 U.C.(United Calendar) by Ulritch VonWollen, the chieftain of the Alerios tribe. Through a series of wars, Ultritch subjected the tribes and forced them to recognize his supremacy; and his right to Kingship. Following this, Ulritch consolidated power among the tribes; bringing their chieftains together to serve as his advisers. Even today, members of the respective Talios tribes serve as advisers to the King and often urge him to war those tribes around him, or the nations that exist. in Talios culture a mans worth is often still found in battle; and duels, although now not to the death, are still common as means of settling arguments. Talios diplomacy comes often in the form of saber rattling, although her neighbors protected by the sea pay her little attention when this occurs.

A loose confederation of Cities bound together by their desire for protection and the advancement of prosperity. Foreign policy is decided by a council of delegates representing every city and town. Ultimately, the council is a battle ground for policy between the merchant class and the agrarian elements of their society, sometimes resulting in deadlock. The cities have rarely entered in a military alliance, and even then only temporarily.

The Territories of Arun are an isolationist state, with no foreigners allowed past the docks of the port cities. While trade is permitted, any attempt to venture inland is met with armed force. Usually the price to pay for this is death, or service in the Arun galleys. Their diplomats are usually polite and firm when any negotiations are done.

Free Cities of Calea
Population: Six Million
Exports: Wheat, horses, leather goods.
Imports: Iron, lumber, marble
Army: 15,000 men
Navy: 2 frigates, 1 cog
Ethnicity: Slavic
Religion: Eastern Orthodox, with a small minority of Origin
Government: Monarchy

The cities of Calea are descendants of the Slavic tribes to the west. Centuries ago they migrated into the plains and made use of the abundance of horse and buffalo that dominate the planes. To this day, Calean horses, and calvary, are some of the best in the world. They are friendly with their neighbor Kusvic, being brothers in faith and sharing the same language. They maintain their independence however, and will assert themselves whenever they feel necessary to prove that they are not puppets of Kusvic.

-Your expansion to the North has encountered resistance from local farmers. They claim to belong to the Cities of Peorl.
-The Nation of Kusvic has sent an envoy requesting a trade agreement.




Athena
-Your expansion onto the mainland has resulted in a single outpost, called Outriders Post. The other attempts were destroyed by unidentified marauders.
-The Merchant Cities of Southron has requested that your ports be open to their ships, in exchange for similar treatment in their own cities.

-The East Imrar Charter Company reports several natural harbors along the Imrar Coast, and a general report suggests the construction of an outpost here as a base for slave raids on the tribes in the interior.
-Business is operating at average productivity for all sectors with the Merchant sector asking for the expansion of trade with the wider world.
-Scouts report movement of tribes to the North. Supposedly, the members of these tribes are of similar shape to your own race; although with a deep bronze colored skin and longer; sharper ears. The Scouts have begun labeling them, "Wood Elves."
-Reports from the slave camps state that a Priest is moving among the slaves, preaching to them. His message is that if the slaves worked hard enough, they may break free of their chains and become productive members of Society.


Dasha Ori
-Business is running at average productivity, although some unrest is reported in the outer regions where the Church is not as strong.
-Priests within the Government are asking for financial support to go out among the tribes to the North, and bring them to the Light. Another faction however is pushing for expansion to the South, so as to claim the tribes of the Artuin Peninsula before Aler Talios can bring them into their own country; damning them.
-Scouts report intense fighting among tribes to the East, with fears that infighting among the tribes may spill into the lowers reaches of the Dasha Range.
-The teachings of Damaris, a Prior from the previous century, has taken hold in the Cities of Calea. Evidence of suppression of Origin however is evident within Calea.

The company is also informed to offer indentured work contracts to tribes of natives that are deemed productive enough by government overseers as a alternative to slavery, this includes the buying of these tribes prisoners and enemies to be sold to slavery. (Promoting the tribes to war against one another to avoid the loss of men for the company).

-Continues to promote the advancement of science in public schools.

-Except for general external taxes, the branch of commerce lays very few restrictions on external trade, promoting the expansion of the private sector. The only exception is that the commerce branch still keeps a firm hold over the mining operations of the nation, keeping low iron prices currently to dissuade competition, and leaking only small amounts of other metals that other empires don't have the capacity to produce to keep high prices and high demand.

-The branch of Consecutism plants missionaries in the Northern tribal lands to spread the religion. The branch supports the religion being spread through the slave population to globalize it, and bring it to the lower class. Devote slave-owning followers of the religion free hard-working slaves, for the commandments of Consecutism are blind to class and race.

-Agrees to the formal trade agreement with Ploutos Ziton, offering reduced tariffs with the nation, but is reluctant to agree to the research agreement, what does Thyrem gain from this contract? Accepts the trade offers proposed by both Southron and Athena, so long as Athena Provides an equal amount of timber for iron. Hissho also agrees in the safeguard of their routes, and will position numerous guards to travel with the caravans.

Will let the tribes fight one another, in hopes that they will weaken one another, to which the Hissho will send in troops to take and occupy the land, and assimilate their factions into the Hissho empire.

Fortifies it's major cities by placing more troops and sentry outpost to halt any individuals who could potentially put It's citizens health at risk, deterring them away from the major cities. Instead, troops who come across sick or potential carries would deter them away to the lesser cities for now. Doctors are instructed to develop new means of better sanitary and health methods, to overcome sickness and disease.

Hissho will continue along it's current path of enhancing and developing what it already has; fortifying it's boarders, improving it's industrial production, and continuing to build state housing, as well as some hospitals now.
Will consider trade agreements with other nations, depending on if Athena agrees to their trade.

-Fighting has broken out in the streets in the East of the Free Cities of Calea between members of the East Orthodox Church and members of the Church of Origin.
- The Kingdom of Peorl has been absorbed by Ploutos Ziton, and been given special status in their Kingdom.
-Astrologists predict droughts this year due to the sign of Cancer being in an upside down position in the sky.

Athena:
-Several Charter companies have formed and launched expeditions to the mainland. However they complain of the conditions, with settlements under attack. They request the stationing of a portion of the army to fend off the locals.
-Outriders Post has fortified its walls and created a harbor allowing for a steady flow of goods, namely beaver fur, to the home island.
-Aler Talios accepts your trade agreement along with the discussed conditions.


Ploutos Ziton
-The Kingdom of Peorl signs the agreement permitting the absorption of their territories, considering their special status. The first shipment of Ducats arrives. Their envoy requests special funding to expand harbors in their north due to to opening of trade with Kusvic.
-The Merchants Coalition decries your refusal for a raised tariff, citing all the other nations have tariffs.
-You manage to create a small outpost in a natural harbor in the Aldin Islands. Fittingly it is called Ziton's Landing. Among the plants on the island, your explorers discover naturally growing sugar cane.

Dasha Ori
-Unrest has quieted down in the Eastern portion of the Kingdom likely because of the troops. Several peasant groups however are refusing to pay taxes in the Western towns, demanding they be lowered.
-Your missionaries in Calea have been killed while preaching. Some believe it wasn't just the work of the peasants fighting there.
-A series of outposts from which missionaries are based have been set up in the southern Hills and the Northern foothills of Dasha.


Thyrem

-The East Imrar Charter sets up a small harbor along the Imrar Coast, and begins offering the contracts. A small flow of slaves begins flowing into the Republic due to this with promises of more in the coming year.
-Citizens have formed the Thyrem Society for Public Advancement, a group dedicated to the spread of knowledge among the citizenry.
-Several tribes have sent members back with your missionaries to learn about your society and its religion.


Hissho
-The fighting between the tribes continues into this year, will little possibility for advance seen by your Generals.
-Your doctors have come to the conclusion that bleeding individuals out is not beneficial for their health, and the Medical Association of Hissho Doctors has stripped any Doctors of their practice if they continue it.
-Your scientists have discovered large deposits of coal in the mountains upon which your Kingdom is built, making you no longer dependent on it for imports. This has been replaced with wheat as one of your main imports.

Events
- Troops are stationed in the Eastern regions of Dasha-Ori to deter the threat of violence and promote Enlightenment
- The 2nd Enlightened Order is stationed in the West as a result of the killings in the Free Cities. There is talk of activating another Enlightened Order for specific use of vengeance.
- The Chosen One is unhappy with the killings in the Free Cities of Calea. Teaching is still encouraged with new missionaries. Espionage funding is increased and starts to focus on counter-espionage to determine the cause of the deaths.

Events:
-The King of Hissho has died and lack of an heir has resulted in fighting between relatives for the throne. Civil war has broken out!
-Numerous ships that have crossed the Icecap Ocean have reported seeing large monstrous beasts in the water there, with several dissapearing.
-The armies of the Free Cities of Calea have entered the Eastern Cities and put down any insurrection there, as well as massacring any practitioners of the Church of Origin.



Thyrem
-A group of architects have come forward proposing a large stone Colosseum be built in the Capital with all the excess stone available. The designs they have put forward show the building dwarfing all else around it, and the creation of a large stone parade road that leads to it. They predict the building of it would take 8 years and cost 1,000 Du.
-There is some resistance to education among the lower classes, as the parents of children would rather they work than sit in a classroom all day.
-Your small harbor on the Imrar Coast has come under attack this year from several tribes. The officials located there, that survived so far, believe them to be tribes from whom some slaves have been taken. A general expansion of the outpost begins, making room for the arrival of troops brought by the government, or hired by the company if required.



Athena

-The arrival of your troops is fortunate as the attacks on settlements increased this year. Your forces inflict several defeats on the attackers, but suffer the loss of an entire outpost to an overwhelming attack.
-Your naval patrols ensure the growth of trade, and your merchants sail the waters around Arcia without fear.
-An envoy from the beleaguered nation of Hissho has arrived in your capital requesting a trade agreement, along with a sealed letter bound for the head of your government.



Ploutos Ziton

-Zitons Landing has been expanded this year, with the docks being expanded. Along with barracks for a small garrison to hold the island.
-The introduction of sugar to your nation has been wildly successful, there is almost none available for export due to its popularity at home.
-Hissho has agreed to your trade agreement.-


Dasha-Ori
-Your spies uncovered the cause of the initial fighting. (See me for info.)
-The stationing of troops have quieted any unrest in Dasha-Ori, although there are hushed whispers of discontent still.
-Your missionaries have initial success in converting the tribes to your East, although their pleas for them to join the Kingdom of Dasha-Ori have so far fallen on deaf ears.

-Informs the architect guild that if they can lower the cost or raise a portion of the cost with public funds, the project has a higher chance of passing through legislature. The Colosseum would bring revenue to the capital including local industry therefore the government believes the public sector has reasons to back it.

-Re-routes 2 companies of soldiers [150 men each] to the colony to protect it. The major has orders to deter attacks and prevent friendly casualties.

-Education is continued to be offered to all citizens, and nobody is forced into it.

-Moves several battalions of soldiers to the west border.
