The end of an Age

Here is the Scenario, make a human character that can get along with others fairly well and is willing to work with others.
The map will be produced soon, but all you need to know is that you are in the Kingdom of Edrumiun, residing in the town of Southbank along the Crows Foot River. This lies in the southern part of the Kingdom, along the edge of the wild lands. Rumors have been circulating about a group of barbarians that are threatening to overwhelm the Kingdoms southern defenses, and sighting of men clad in hide armor have become common outside the town.
So the locals have begun preparing defenses. What do you chose to do?
